Irakli Kobakhidze - General education reform will make a significant contribution to the development of the country

It is impossible to reform the higher education system without a general education reform, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during his speech at the presentation of the general education reform concept.

According to Kobakhidze, if students at schooldo not acquire the knowledge and skills that will later be useful in their professional activities, the system will not be successful.

“Today we have a very important event, we will present the concept of general education reform. We recently presented the concept of higher education reform. Of course, we all understand that without general education reform, it is impossible to reform the higher education system. If a student does not acquire the knowledge and skills that will be useful to him later in his professional activity at school, of course, the system as a whole will not be successful. Therefore, we have attached special importance to the general education reform. This document was prepared according to the same principle as the concept of higher education reform was developed. 8 main challenges facing the general education system are very briefly and concisely defined, and on this basis, 8 answers to these challenges are defined.

I would like to personally thank the Minister, Mr. Givi Mikanadze, and the entire team of the Ministry, all those people who were involved in the development of this concept. I am sure that this concept will be successfully implemented and, in the end, will naturally make a significant contribution to the development of our country," the Prime Minister said.
