Shalva Papuashvili: They have until this week; if Aleko Elisashvili is not expelled, from Monday ‘Citizens,’ ‘Strong Georgia,’ and ‘ALDE’ will officially become organizations protecting a terrorist

“Today is Wednesday. We will wait - they have until the end of this week. Until Monday there will be no distancing, no expulsion. From Monday, both the Citizens party, the Lelo – Strong Georgia union, and ALDE, as mentioned in my rhetoric, will be referred to as protectors of a terrorist,” Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said in response to a question about Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of Lelo – Strong Georgia.

Papuashvili emphasized that today is a moment of truth, including for the European Union.

“ALDE is a political union that includes political forces from various countries, and in some countries, ALDE even has representatives in government. This is a moment of truth: the Georgian people demand answers, and we expect ALDE and these European forces to tell us whether terrorism is a European value.

If a person admits to committing a terrorist act and their own party does not distance itself from them - for example, the Citizens party - then that party is a protector of a terrorist. If their coalition partner does not distance itself either, then that coalition is also a protector of a terrorist.

If the political union, of which the party is a member, does not distance itself, then the union itself is also a protector of terrorism. Today is Wednesday - we will wait; they have until the end of this week. Until Monday there will be no distancing, no expulsion. From Monday, the Citizens party, the Lelo – Strong Georgia union, and ALDE will, in my rhetoric, be referred to as protectors of a terrorist. They have until Monday; from Monday onward, they will officially become organizations protecting a terrorist. From that point, in every statement, I will remind everyone that they are organizations protecting terrorists,” Papuashvili said.
