For two months, Brussels has refused to condemn and distance itself from the violent storming of the Georgian presidential palace by extremist groups on October 4, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili wrote on his Facebook page.
As Papuashvili notes, Brussels must abandon its support for violence and return to basic European values.
“Today is December 4. For two months, Brussels has refused to condemn and dissociate itself from the violent storming of the Georgian presidential palace by extremist groups on October 4.
Failure to condemn violence fuels extremism, failure to condemn extremism fuels terrorism. We have already seen this cause-and-effect relationship in Georgia.
Brussels must refuse to support violence and return to basic European values, such as respect for human rights and the rule of law,” Shalva Papuashvili wrote on social media.
