Elene Khoshtaria: The regime secretly poisoned its own people and is now busy trying to save itself – After the crackdown on the ‘Russian Law’ protests, the cause of my body’s sudden collapse is still unknown; one of the doctors' hypotheses is intoxication

“What I have heard and seen these days is very familiar and understandable to me. After the crackdown on the ‘Russian Law’ protests, the cause of my body’s sudden collapse remains unknown to this day. This collapse, besides posing a risk to my life, triggered four different acute illnesses,” - writes Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the “Droa” party, in a letter sent from Rustavi Women’s Prison. The letter was published on her personal social media page and responds to the events reflected in the BBC documentary.

According to Khoshtaria, the cause of her illness remains unidentified.

“A so-called government that denies citizens one of the most fundamental rights - the right to health - is not only not a government but a dangerous phenomenon for people. The regime secretly poisoned its own people, then hid the toxic substance from doctors so they couldn’t treat them, and now it is engaged in shameful and very clumsy attempts to save itself.

What I have heard and seen these days is very familiar and understandable to me. After the crackdown on the ‘Russian Law,’ the cause of my body’s sudden collapse is still unknown. My immune system collapsed, and Turkish doctors had to carry out rather complex procedures to stabilize my vital signs. Besides posing a risk to my life, this collapse triggered four different acute illnesses, various severe pains, extreme weakness, and left me non-functional for a long period.

The cause of my persistent illness is still unknown, and one of the doctors’ hypotheses is intoxication, the treatment of which would have been impossible without knowing the name of the toxic substance. As for last year’s crackdown, I won’t even mention skin burns, vomiting, and months of extremely high blood pressure.

So - to every organization, every international investigation, and every competent person - I will provide testimony and share the thousand pages of my medical reports. This is how all of us must act. The regime will not be able to justify the atrocity it has committed. We will take this case to the very end!

On December 6 at 19:00, at the Philharmonic, I ‘won’t be able’ to attend the rally. It is very important that there are many of you! To the end!” - writes Elene Khoshtaria.
