According to the government's decision, all companies operating in the energy sector will have their accumulated fines to the state, totaling 1 billion GEL, written off, with a specific reservation, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at the briefing at the government administration.

As for the reservation, Kobakhidze said, "In order for companies not to be tempted to continue their activities irresponsibly and not to accumulate fines, but to take the state initiative to restart the sector seriously, in case of violation of the renewed deadlines, they will be fully liable for the newly accumulated fines and penalties, and the forgiven fines will also be restored."

"We have made a decision to waive fines and personal penalties imposed on companies operating in the sector with a specific reservation. All companies operating in the energy sector that are involved in the development of renewable energy projects will have their accumulated fines to the state written off with a specific reservation, the total amount of which is 1 billion GEL," Kobakhidze said.
