Grigol Gegelia: ALDE gave a very clear three-line response to the hysterical campaign led by Kobakhidze and Papuashvili, putting the pro-Russian regime in its place

“This is a regime that is truly involved in criminal acts against its own peaceful population,” said one of the leaders of Lelo – Strong Georgia, Grigol Gegelia, commenting on ALDE’s statement.

According to him, ALDE gave a very clear response to the government and “put the pro-Russian, hybrid, terrorist regime in its place.”

“ALDE once again stated very clearly today that it finds unacceptable the actions carried out by Aleko Elisashvili, but at the same time, this regime has nothing to say about such actions or about real terrorism, because this is a regime that, with high probability, was poisoning its own citizens, including children and the elderly. This is being discussed by a high-level international investigation. Therefore, I believe ALDE’s response is very telling and clearly shows that the paranoid nonsense of Georgian Dream is being met with great irony and ridicule by the international, civilized community. This is a regime that is truly involved in criminal acts against its own peaceful population.

As for the ALDE matter, I think this issue is closed. Aleko Elisashvili has never been a member of Lelo, and certainly not a member of ALDE. Therefore, we have no one to respond to. However, since for an entire week we have been watching the hysterical campaign led by Kobakhidze and Papuashvili, ALDE chose to respond with a very clear three-line statement that put the pro-Russian, hybrid, terrorist regime in its place,” Gegelia stated.

For reference, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE Party) wrote on the social platform X that it does not justify the actions of Aleko Elisashvili, a member of Lelo – Strong Georgia. “Of course, ALDE does not justify these actions — that is self-evident. Just as we will never justify violence against peaceful protesters or the use of chemical weapons against citizens,” ALDE wrote on X.

Recall that a few days ago, the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, said regarding the case of Aleko Elisashvili that ALDE showed “no reaction from their side.”
