European leaders should wake up, they should implement the will of the European people, - the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, told journalists.

According to him, the loss of European identity is the last point where the rule of European leaders will lead the European Union.

“The society clearly sees how right, correct the policy of the Georgian Dream was, especially in recent years. Everything that we talked about turned out to be true. All the risks that we talked about were revealed and the hypocrite was exposed. As for our vision regarding foreign policy, what we offered to the society, including during the pre-election campaign, all these issues came true one by one today. In this regard, the Georgian Dream once again confirmed how important it was to withstand the enormous pressure that was being exerted on the Georgian government, including by the European Union and Brussels, through their subordinate NGOs and parties. Where would we be today if we had not withstood this pressure? We would be where Ukraine is today, when they can no longer have peace or war. Having put Ukraine in this state, these hypocritical political leaders are also aggravating it. In fact, this is putting the Ukrainian people in a worse position,” Papuashvili said.

According to him, the new US administration has a special role to openly and clearly tell the truth to European bureaucrats and political leaders.

“For example, to tell them that in reality, under the guise of this pseudo-Europeanism, the European Union has become a territory of restricting freedom of speech, restricting democracy, governing minorities rather than sharing the will of the majority, a territory of conflict rather than peace. I think this is the moment when European leaders should wake up, they have deviated from their own people, the will of the European people. The only way out is to return to implementing the will of their own people, which they have so failed to do. The result was directly stated by the new US administration, this is what we were talking about - the loss of European identity. This is the last point where the governance of European leaders in the European Union will bring it," Papuashvili said.
