Given the occupation of our two historical regions, Georgia considers peace not only a political choice, but also an existential priority, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in his speech at the plenary session of the international forum “Peace and Trust: A Set of Goals for a Sustainable Future” in Turkmenistan.

According to Kobakhidze, the principles of peace and trust are not only ideals, but also the most important tools for ensuring global stability.

“It is a great honor for me to participate in this important forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust. It was established by the United Nations at the initiative of Turkmenistan. I express my sincere gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for its unwavering commitment to promoting dialogue, cooperation and constructive engagement, both regionally and globally.

The theme of our session is “Peace and Trust: A Set of Goals for a Sustainable Future”. It perfectly reflects Georgia’s values and foreign policy priorities. Today, more than ever, the global community is faced with complex challenges, ranging from geopolitical tensions to armed conflicts, climate change and economic instability. In this context, the principles of peace and trust are not only ideals, but also the most important tools for ensuring global stability. With the reality of the ongoing occupation of our two historical regions, Georgia considers peace not only a political choice, but also an existential priority," the Prime Minister said.
