You can see photos of demonstrations, protests, but Georgia is particularly successful. 9.4% growth - show me a country in Europe that has such growth, - the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said at the briefing held together with Mikheil Kavelashvili.
According to Vučić, it is planned to open a Serbian embassy in Georgia in the near future.
According to him, Serbia and Georgia are celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, but so far not enough efforts have been made to deepen these relations.
“Dear friend, respected Mikheil, it is a great honor for me to host the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, and I would like to say that as a citizen and President of the Republic of Serbia, I feel very happy, because for the first time in our history we have the opportunity to host the President of Georgia. We celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and this is the first visit of the President of Georgia to Serbia. Georgia and Serbia have very close relations, but in the past we have not worked hard enough to deepen these relations. This closeness between the Serbian and Georgian people is such that, as I told President Kavelashvili, in Belgrade and Serbia he will not find a single person who can say anything bad about Georgia. Everyone here loves Georgia and he will be able to see and feel this, to feel the Serbian hospitality wherever he goes. Throughout history, we have given concrete form to everything that we felt towards each other. We have direct Flights Tbilisi - Belgrade, this is the result of economic and other relations, we will soon open an embassy in Tbilisi, which will be a place for many business initiatives to arise and, of course, this will be an opportunity to deepen cooperation. Today we discussed all important issues, starting with the world political and geopolitical situation, we discussed the situation in the Caucasus region and the Western Balkans region, in South-Eastern Europe. We understood each other very well and the most important thing is that compliance with the requirements of the UN Charter, compliance with the requirements of UN resolutions is the most important thing in relations between countries. I am grateful to Georgia for respecting the territorial integrity of Serbia, just as Serbia respects the territorial integrity of Georgia, and this fact will never change from either side. We are representatives of relatively small and medium-sized countries and we uphold international law and I will uphold this very firmly in the future,"- said Vučić.
According to him, strategic discussions on signing a free trade agreement with Georgia will soon begin in Serbia.
"We discussed concrete forms of our cooperation, we will soon have a joint committee meeting and soon we will begin strategic discussions on the signing of a free trade agreement between Serbia and Georgia, and this will be beneficial for both countries. Georgia is a beautiful country, for those who do not know, it borders the Black Sea, it has borders with Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and simply put, Georgia is a very important place in the world. We know what relations with major powers mean, we also experience the same and understand Georgia's position. I am sure that the free trade agreement will enter into force next year, because in-depth discussions are underway. We believe that as a result of this agreement, we will receive cheaper products from Georgia than from other countries, and vice versa, this is a very good opportunity for our businesses, entrepreneurs, to see a key market in Georgia. We also discussed improving cooperation in the field of agriculture, in artificial intelligence and I am sure that we will achieve great progress in these areas in the future. We are further improving our relations and will be able to discuss cooperation in the military sphere, between military-industrial facilities and I am sure that this is very good information for the citizens of both countries. We hold frequent political consultations, we support each other not only at the level of the UN, but also in other institutions and in various organizations around the world. Georgia can count on Serbia's support and voice, and vice versa, Serbia can count on Georgia's support. We from Serbia will do everything to further improve and deepen our relations.
I would like to publicly thank Mr. President Kavelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. Their country has a huge growth rate. You can see photos of demonstrations, protests, but Georgia is particularly successful. 9.4% growth - show me a country in Europe that has such growth and I would like to congratulate you "on such a result for Georgia, the people of Georgia, and the state, you will be a role model for the region next year," Vučić said.
