Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” congratulated her teammate Zurab “Girchi” Japaridze on his release from prison. In her message, Khoshtaria praised Japaridze for radiating positive energy, which she said is essential for their ongoing struggle.
“Congratulations, ‘Japar,’ on being reunited with your family! You radiate such good energy, which is so necessary for the fight. Of course, we will win with exactly the determination and spirit with which you came out. Until the end!” Khoshtaria wrote in a letter sent from prison.
Japaridze, a co-leader of the “Coalition for Change,” left Rustavi Prison this morning after serving a seven-month sentence.
He was detained on May 22 in the courtroom, after failing to appear before Georgia’s Parliament temporary investigative commission, where he had been summoned to provide explanations. Japaridze was charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to “failure to comply with the request of the Parliament’s temporary investigative commission.”
