The United States Government will provide the Georgian Ministry of Defense with goods worth over $10 million in the form of grant.
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, has signed a decree approving grants allocated by the United States Government to the Georgian Ministry of Defense.
According to the decree, the Georgian Ministry of Defense will receive communications equipment and other goods worth $10,431,459.90 from the United States Government.
In accordance with the Decree No. 238 of the Government of Georgia dated June 1, 2015 “On the Coordination of Foreign Assistance in Georgia and Approval of the Rules for Grant Issuance by the Ministries of Georgia”, the decision of the Government of the United States of America on the transfer of goods (with a total value of 10,431,459.90 USD) to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia within the framework of grants (PB-B-WFK, DT-B-WAZ, PB-B-WFJ, DT-BWBC and DT-B-WBA) shall be approved.
In accordance with subparagraph “c” of Article 4 of the Law of Georgia “On Grants”, the Ministry of Defense of Georgia shall be authorized to receive communications equipment and other types of goods specified in the grants allocated to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia by the Government of the United States of America, as provided for in paragraph 1 of this decree,” reads the decree.
