Prime Minister - 80% of the opposition has sided with high prices, they came up with a thousand accusations, what we intend to do is to delve deeper into the issue - we will call everyone, ask questions, if the head of the Distributors Association is a radical oppositionist, he must also answer questions

We need to work both with distribution companies and directly with representatives of supermarket chains in order to achieve price reductions, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

As Irakli Kobakhidze noted, the total markup is 86 percent from the Georgian border to the counter.

"We have calculated what the markup is, where this markup occurs. The total markup is 86 percent from the border of Georgia to the counter. We must work both with distribution companies and directly with representatives of supermarket chains in order to achieve price reduction. We will delve deeper into this issue and on this basis we will present specific results to the public. We must use all levers. For this reason, on the one hand, I appealed to law enforcement agencies, and on the other hand, I asked the Georgian Parliament to use its own levers. It is important to study the issue in as much depth as possible, where the resources for price reduction are, and to prepare an in-depth conclusion on this. We have great hope that we will achieve price reduction based on the processes that will begin soon and should be completed soon," - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to him, representatives of the opposition have come up with a thousand accusations, as if the government intends to impose strict restrictions in this direction, however, what the government intends to do is to study the issue in depth and, where there is the resource for this, to ensure a reduction in prices.

"80% of the opposition has sided with high prices, they have come up with a thousand accusations, as if we are going to impose some strict restrictions, etc. What we intend to do is to delve deeper into the issue and where there is the resource to reduce prices, naturally, this should be ensured everywhere," the Prime Minister said.

According to him, questions should be asked to all relevant persons, since their answers are important for drawing the right conclusions in this direction.

"In order not to get ahead of events, we must ask everyone questions. Among them, if the head of the Distributors' Association is a radical oppositionist, he must also answer the questions. We will call everyone, ask everyone questions, and everyone must answer these questions. This is important so that we can draw the right conclusions and, based on these conclusions, achieve a price reduction," the head of government said.
