We will try to do our best to develop football, serious investments are planned in this direction, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in his speech at the Georgian Football Federation awards ceremony.
As Kobakhidze noted, there is a great interest among children to get involved in football, and often the infrastructure cannot support all this.
"The construction of 30 technical stadiums is underway, of which 23 will be completed next year, and full-fledged stadiums will also be built in 8 cities, which will contribute to the development of children's football on the one hand and our national championship on the other. We will not neglect this aspect, we will invest maximum effort in the development of football. There is a great interest among children to get involved in football, and often the infrastructure cannot support all this. Our goal is to fully develop the infrastructure to meet this growing demand so that as many Georgian children as possible can get involved in football. This means not only sporting achievements, it means, of course, more health, a healthy lifestyle, which should be spread as much as possible among our children and the next generation.
I would like to thank everyone. First of all, to the players, everyone who was involved in the development of football. Special thanks to everyone who put their heart and soul into each task that serves the development of Georgian football. I would also like to single out the fans, the role of the fans, who are the key to winning and who stood by Georgian football and our players during the defeat. It is very important to stand by the players until the end, both when winning and losing. This is a necessary condition for the irreversible development of football and for our players to achieve new victories and successes. Therefore, each fan who stood by our players, our national team, our teams deserves special thanks. Thank you to everyone. I would like to congratulate you on the upcoming Christmas and New Year, I would like to wish you victories and successes. 2026 is coming and we have 26 well-deserved years in football, so I am sure that 2026 will be a very successful year for Georgian football,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to him, the tenth anniversary is being celebrated after the new leadership of the Football Federation took the lead in the development of football and “it is precisely thanks to this team that Georgian football has had special and outstanding achievements in the past few years.”
“I am very happy to be participating in the year-end event and the award ceremony for the players. This year was truly successful for Georgian football. Our national team retained its place in Group B, which was very important for the further development of football.
Also, our players, our stars, were distinguished by their individual achievements. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is particularly outstanding, who won everything that could be won this year. I would also single out Otar Kiteishvili, who became the best player in the Austrian Bundesliga for the second time in a row. Giorgi Mamardashvili made his debut in Liverpool. These are very big successes and these successes set an example for our children who dream of similar higher achievements. This example is very important for everyone”, said the PM.
