Shalva Papuashvili: Partskhaladze no longer holds Georgian citizenship, has Russian citizenship, which complicates extradition - it is important that all accused are arrested and all perpetrators are held accountable

It is important that all accused individuals are arrested. Several people are currently in hiding in different locations - some in Europe, others in Russia. As far as we know regarding Otar Partskhaladze, he has lost Georgian citizenship and holds Russian citizenship, which complicates the extradition process, said Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili while speaking to journalists.

He was commenting on the decision to bring charges against former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze in the murder case of Levan Jangveladze.

According to Papuashvili, the contract killing in the center of Tbilisi was an extremely serious crime.

“I would like to thank the law enforcement agencies, which worked in great detail on this very complex investigation. We saw that multiple individuals were involved, and it was confirmed that the organizer of the murder was located outside the country. There were attempts to cover up for one another. We saw that the perpetrators who were arrested refused to testify. Ultimately, the investigation fully reconstructed the entire picture. We now know who the organizer was, who carried out the crime, and what the motive was. I thank the law enforcement agencies for this work.

Now it is important that every person who has been charged is detained. Several individuals are hiding in different places - some in Europe, others in Russia. As we understand, Partskhaladze no longer has Georgian citizenship and holds Russian citizenship, which complicates extradition. It is crucial that all those responsible are held accountable,” Papuashvili stated.

For reference, former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze is being charged in connection with the murder of Levan Jangveladze. The charges were announced earlier by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, who stated that the Jangveladze murder case has been fully solved.
