The fight against corruption is one of the main directions of law enforcement agencies, and a number of criminal facts have been revealed in this regard, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said at the government session.
According to Kobakhidze, the main thing is that today and tomorrow all kinds of corrupt practices are prevented.
"The public has extensive information about this, however, when we talk about corruption, once again, I will emphasize one thing: it is one thing to expose crimes committed in the past, but the main thing for us is to look ahead and the most important thing is to ensure the prevention of all kinds of corrupt practices today and tomorrow. This is precisely what every decision that has been made on our part was dedicated to. Of course, we will not neglect this issue in the future either," - said the Prime Minister.
In addition, Kobakhidze spoke about the changes implemented in law enforcement agencies and stated that these changes contributed to increasing the efficiency of activities, which was reflected in various areas, “including the fight against organized and drug crime.”
"I would especially highlight the changes made in law enforcement agencies. In terms of personnel, the leadership has changed in practically all areas. You have new leadership in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as in the State Security Service, the Prosecutor's Office, and other law enforcement agencies, and this has contributed to increasing the effectiveness of our activities, which has been reflected in various areas, including various areas of the fight against crime. I would highlight organized crime, where we have very serious consequences, and I would also highlight drug crime separately.
The fight against drug crime has intensified over the past seven months. I will recall the statistical data - 1,955 drug dealers were arrested. It was an extremely difficult situation and active intervention was necessary in order to solve this problem as much as possible. Very active work will continue in this direction in the future. The work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was also outstanding in terms of combating illegal migration, and here too, if we recall simple statistics, this year as many illegal migrants were expelled from the country as over the past 7 years. Work in this direction will continue actively," Irakli Kobakhidze said.
