A government coordinating commission has been established to address food prices, to be headed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The information was released by the Government Administration.
According to the statement, the relevant decree was approved at the government’s meeting yesterday.
As Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani stated, the commission will include ministers from the relevant sectors, representatives of the Government Administration, and the Competition Agency.
“The Prime Minister spoke at length about markups on food products and noted that this issue requires deeper analysis, as price markups often do not follow any logical pattern and, accordingly, affect consumers. The government commission was established to ensure better coordination of this process,” Levan Zhorzholiani said.
