I am sure that there is unity in the country, maybe it is not visible, maybe we still curse each other, but somewhere there is that Georgian spirit, unity, the desire to survive that has brought us this far and will take us far - we are ready for this regime to leave peacefully, to say goodbye to us the way this year will say goodbye to us, - reads the New Year's greetings from the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili.
According to her, after the Georgian Dream leaves power, "the most difficult and biggest task will begin - building the country."
"I am not going to recall this most difficult year and recall everything that happened this year. Too much as happened that is shameful for us, for all of us, it is better that we forget all this for a while today and think about what will happen in 2026. I believe in 2026. Because, in addition to everything bad, I saw your determination, your resilience. This applies to prisoners of conscience. I cannot help but recall them and, first of all, congratulate them on the New Year and wish them new hopes. I saw the resilience of the parents of prisoners of conscience, the extraordinary resilience, everyday, which is selfless love, which we need so much today and tomorrow. This is also hopeful for us, I saw the determination in the country in general, I saw the Georgia of tomorrow, which will not accept becoming Russia or something like Russia, or a small colony of Russia. I saw the Georgia that will build a new country where the law will prevail, the court will be the court, prisoners will be people who did something wrong, not those who stood on the sidewalk. I saw a Georgia where young people will receive an education. They will not go anywhere and will receive an education in this country, and this will not come on the basis of some meaningless, so-called reform. It will come because the desire for people to receive an education is what has been with us since time immemorial and what irritates Russia the most: an educated Georgia, a Georgia on its feet. I saw this, I believe, tomorrow such a Georgia will come. It depends on us, it depends on whether we all leave, decide that there is no hope here, close the door and leave. Someone will leave, someone will return, we all have a big job together, no one can like that the regime is completely occupied by criminals and corrupt people. I am sure that no one likes it. Someone is silent, someone speaks openly. Therefore, we are ready for this regime to go. Peacefully. Let us say goodbye as this year will say goodbye. Then the most difficult and biggest task will begin - building a country where many things have already been destroyed: institutions, law, the judiciary, the economy, which has seemingly been restored, but today it turns out that prices are high and it is better to go to Europe and buy there than here. The fact that children are being robbed of food in this country is something that we no longer want.
I am sure that there is unity in the country, maybe it is not visible, maybe we still curse each other, but somewhere there is that Georgian spirit, unity, the desire to survive, which has brought us this far and will take us far. Happy New Year! ", - says Salome Zurabishvili in her congratulation.
