Public Defender’s Office begins examination of application of Bacho Akhalaia’s wife

The Public Defender's Office has begun examining the application of Ani Nadareishvili, the wife of former Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia.

Ani Nadareishvili addressed the Public Defender with an application yesterday. Bacho Akhalaia's wife requests that Levan Ioseliani investigate the actions taken against her and her family, which, in her opinion, constitute a grave and systemic violation of the rights protected by the Human Rights Convention, the Constitution of Georgia, and the fundamental principles of international law.

In the application, Nadareishvili asks the Public Defender to examine several facts within the framework of his mandate, including the actions taken by the State Security Service. She also requests to determine her legal status. In addition, she demands that they investigate “the facts of coercion, threats, and psychological violence, including the episode of pressure exerted on Akhalaia in the State Security Service building,” and also that the court’s decision to close the hearing be evaluated.

In her application, Nadareishvili calls on the Public Defender to issue a public conclusion and recommendations.
