Salome Zurabishvili: No one expects :Georgian Dream" to be capable of transforming - so deeply entrenched is it in a regime that is effectively a dictatorship; in the end, the people always win

Georgia’s fifth President, Salome Zurabishvili, says that “Georgian Dream” lacks the ability to transform or “come to its senses.”

According to her, no one has any expectation that “Georgian Dream” will be able to genuinely understand the current situation or change, because, as Zurabishvili assesses, it is deeply embedded in a regime that in reality represents a dictatorship. Nevertheless, she says, the people ultimately prevail.

“The purpose of gathering is not for ‘Georgian Dream’ to understand something. No one has any hope that ‘Georgian Dream’ has the capacity to understand and transform. It is so deeply entrenched in a regime that is essentially a dictatorship that it is very hard to imagine it coming to its senses. This does not mean that peaceful protest should not continue. If not today, then tomorrow, the people will win anyway. We saw it in Venezuela; we are watching what is happening in Iran - everywhere people are oppressed by a regime, especially a Russian-type regime, in the end the people always prevail. This is our future,” Salome Zurabishvili said.
