“[Eagle Hills] is an internationally well-known brand. When such a brand enters the country, others follow,” said First Deputy Chair of the Tbilisi City Assembly, Beka Davituliani, during a session.
According to him, an investment of 6 billion is not a “so-called” investment anywhere, at any time.
“That investment [Eagle Hills] is not a ‘so-called’ investment - it is a proper investment, because it is an internationally recognized brand. When such a brand comes in, others follow. Six billion is not ‘imaginary’ anywhere and never is…
A 7-8% share of temporary residents is not a problem for this country at this stage. We remember the hysteria when your political team [‘Lelo - Strong Georgia’] said that ‘the Russians have flooded us.’ So where are those Russians now? Did they flood us? Do we no longer exist? That 7-8% statistic is also within controllable limits.
As for demography, there is a demographic problem, just as in all developed countries. For us, as a small nation, it is a concern and something we need to care about, but I cannot agree with you that the statistics on foreigners temporarily residing in Georgia create any kind of security problem,” Davituliani stated.
At the same time, Davituliani addressed “Lelo - Strong Georgia” MP Nikoloz Cherkezishvili and noted that he agrees that “we must respect each other and refrain from using words that offend us morally and personally.”
“In this regard, I agree with you, and I am sure that Kote did not mean you personally. But when you urge us to respect words and give them value, I could start today and talk until the morning after tomorrow about your party, its leaders, and the entire ‘cohort,’ none of whom respect their words. So many things were said and so many were not fulfilled that they are record-holders for unfulfilled actions and promises. Yes, words must truly be respected - but remind your own people of that as well. Otherwise, according to your logic, today we should be in Moscow with Bidzina Ivanishvili, while you are here in power. So let everyone respect words. I congratulate you on the New Year and wish happiness to everyone,” Davituliani said at the session.
