The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has reached a plea agreement with former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili - the type and length of his sentence is 5 years in prison. He was also fined 1 million GEL as an additional punishment.
"The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has signed a plea agreement with the accused Irakli Gharibashvili, according to which the former Prime Minister was sentenced to 5 years of deprivation of liberty for the crime provided for in Part 3 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
In addition, a fine of 1 million GEL was imposed as an additional punishment. He will also be deprived of the money obtained as a result of criminal activity and seized during the search of his residential building.
Irakli Gharibashvili admits to the crime he committed and agrees to the terms of the plea agreement. The court has already granted the Prosecutor's Office's motion for a plea agreement," the Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.
