Irakli Gharibashvili's lawyer - They imposed a fine, confiscated cars, seized flash drives from the house and 6.5 million dollars, which were confiscated, went to the budget - Gharibashvili has not testified against anyone and does not intend to do so

This person confessed to the crime, went to prison, was fined, and his cars were confiscated. At this stage, he is on his way to Rustavi, or wherever they are taking him, to prison - so-called flash drives and similar things were seized from his house, and 6.5 million dollars, which were also confiscated and sent to the state budget, - Mikheil Shakulashvili, the lawyer of former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, told journalists after the former Prime Minister was arrested.

As Shakulashvili noted, Irakli Gharibashvili will not have his winery confiscated.

"As you know, when a business operates, the same wine industry, the same any business, it needs to fill out tax documentation, both monthly and annual, etc. This is how the state controls that income, that VAT, taxes and everything. Since these declarations were not filled out, that is exactly a crime. All this is called legalization of illegal income.

Irakli Gharibashvili has not testified against anyone, does not intend to and will not intend to do so in the future. He cooperated on his own. At this stage, no one has said anything, either about the new charge, or the old charge. He was charged with the so-called money laundering, this person confessed to the crime, went to prison, was fined, his cars were confiscated and in this case, at this stage, he is on his way to Rustavi or wherever they are taking him, to prison.

We presented the investigation with bank loan agreements for specific purposes, one loan was to purchase land and build a factory. The second loan was to bring in equipment and operate this equipment. To this day, this is being repaid monthly, for a specific purpose. [The factory] will not be confiscated. In addition, none of the gold and watches and other items belonged to Irakli Gharibashvili. So-called flash drives and similar things were seized from his house, and 6.5 million dollars were also confiscated and sent to the state budget. This is not an official offense because the operation, repair, etc. of the factory are not related to his official activities. I work, I am the Prime Minister, but I have a separate business that I do not register, and that is why I received punishment," Mikheil Shakulashvili said.
