Shalva Papuashvili - The five-cross flag of Georgia is the simplest, clearest and most vivid image of the history of our nation, of the 1700-year-old Christian civilization, of its struggle and strength, which tells us who we are

The five-cross flag of Georgia is the simplest, clearest and most vivid image of the history of our nation, the 1700-year-old Christian civilization, its struggle and strength, which tells us who we are, - the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, writes on the social network.

Papuashvili congratulates the population on the Day of the Georgian Flag, which is celebrated today, January 14.

“Today is the Day of the main symbol of the Georgian state - the State Flag!

27 years ago, in 1999, Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II addressed the Parliament of Georgia and emphatically and loudly called for the return of the image under which the Georgian people fought for centuries, with which Georgian kings were blessed, and which became a symbol of the integrity, strength and indivisibility of our nation, as the state flag of Georgia.

The five-cross flag of Georgia is the simplest, clearest and most vivid image of the history of our nation, the 1700-year-old Christian civilization, its struggle and strength, which tells us who we are.

Once again, I congratulate everyone on the New Year, 2026, and the pride of our statehood, the Day of the Georgian Flag!", - Papuashvili wrote on the social network.
