Unfortunately, the plan of informal oligarchic rule to suppress dissent, destroy any space for debate and limit as much as possible any public platform that exposes their ideology, has partially affected Georgia. However, the “deep state” agents have only managed to do one thing, to interrupt the long-standing culture of political, economic and social debates in the country, - the Prime Minister of Georgia and the Chairman of the Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, writes in a letter published on the social network.
According to him, the main standard-bearer for the implementation of this task of the informal rulers has become Nika Gvaramia, who was tasked with complete radicalization by his patrons.
“The main standard -bearer for this task was Nika Gvaramia. When his patrons realized that during the debate, the public could easily distinguish truth from lies, they introduced a completely foreign body to the media, Gvaramia, and gave him a specific task - to completely radicalize.
Gvaramia successfully completed the task - he established lies, insults, swearing, slander and hysteria as the media standard, and ultimately created such a toxic media environment that a normal, healthy person no longer wants to participate in a debate, which ultimately ends in insults. In turn, this situation has divided society and deprived it of the right to enjoy the main principle of democracy - to hear different positions and make a choice according to its own views. Today, we see, on the one hand, a completely marginalized, party unit that has nothing to do with journalism, and, on the other hand, the media, which, due to the current situation, is forced, in parallel with the performance of its own function, to constantly respond to the torrent of disinformation coming from the other side.
And since it is easy to explain the goals, performers and tasks of the artificially created, opposing and divided environment - we are obliged to correct this unhealthy situation; "We are obliged to return to the Georgian people the right to debate, one of the fundamental principles of democracy, and not allow informal forces and their "Georgian" agents to impose their own agenda on us. In order for the Georgian people to make any choice in the future as a result of correct analysis, we must give them the opportunity to publicly hear the positions of all political groups that have the ambition to be in power. We must return public discussion to public life, which is vital for the functioning of a full democracy," the Prime Minister writes.
