Salome Zurabishvili - Talking about dialogue in the current context is a mockery of society - this is another attempt to create different opinions in the opposition, debates are not relevant today

According to the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, in the context of the country having “prisoners of conscience”, political leaders in prison, and the issue of banning political parties being discussed, talking about dialogue is a mockery of society.

According to Zurabishvili, it was the Georgian Dream that has deliberately sown conflict in society for years in almost all areas - sports, culture, religion and other issues.

“Georgian Dream and Kobakhidze decided that dialogue and unity are needed, whereas they did everything to sow conflict on all issues, be it sports, culture, religion... They introduced conflict and division on all issues. Anyone who has studied Georgian history knows that public unity is the main protective mechanism against Russia, which is an empire that divides and thus dominates, this is the principle of all its actions. Georgian Dream also justifies and implements the division of society, confrontation, sow hatred and then let Russia rule outside and inside the country. Therefore, their current messages are very strange, it is hard to believe, because it is unthinkable to start a sincere dialogue when prisoners of conscience are in prison. No one has backed down on anything, the authorities have not apologized for the violence. When the leaders of political parties are in prison or are about to return to prison, when they are planning to ban parties, talking about dialogue in such a context is a mockery of society," Salome Zurabishvili said.

According to Salome Zurabishvili, talking about debates is a "pointless" attempt by the Georgian Dream, as well as an attempt to create different opinions in the opposition regarding participation in it and "to create a subject of controversy."

"It is clear that this is another attempt to create different opinions in the opposition, for someone to come out and say that “I will go”, another to say that “I will not go” and another controversy to erupt over this. Debates are not relevant today, release prisoners of conscience, release political prisoners, start a new, real, different relationship with society and not with the opposition - not violent, not with threats, not by adopting laws that have not been discussed with anyone," Zurabishvili said, adding that "all this needs to be changed so that someone can believe that some kind of dialogue or debate is possible with this regime."
