Irakli Kobakhidze - Peace creates predictability, predictability creates investments, and investments create economic growth - what really distinguishes Georgia is how we interact with the world

Peace creates predictability, predictability creates investment, investment creates economic growth. What truly distinguishes Georgia is not just what we have created, but how we interact with the world, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in his speech at the 2026 World Government Summit.

According to the head of government, with free trade agreements with the European Union, China, Turkey, the European Free Trade Association and the CIS, we are a path to 2.3 billion consumers.

“Georgia’s experience demonstrates a simple principle – peace creates predictability, predictability creates investment, investment creates economic growth. What truly distinguishes Georgia is not just what we have created, but how we interact with the world. With free trade agreements with the EU, China, Turkey, the European Free Trade Association and the CIS – we are a path to 2.3 billion consumers.

In an era defined by rival blocs, Georgia has chosen the union over confrontation. We do not ask our partners to choose sides. We offer them a platform where cooperation is still possible,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgia has maintained macroeconomic discipline, investor confidence and peace in one of the most difficult regions in the world.

“Our economy grew by an average of 9.3 percent between 2021 and 2025, despite a slowdown in global trade and heightened uncertainty. At a time when many were forced to react, Georgia decided to plan ambitious projects.

Transport and logistics form the backbone of the national economy and support trade-oriented development. Georgia has allocated $7 billion for a comprehensive upgrade of transport infrastructure and annually spends 7-8 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) on capital expenditures. We have completed the full modernization of our main railway network, doubling its capacity and significantly reducing transit times across the country. Rail connectivity has been further strengthened by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project, which provides a direct and reliable rail link through Georgia to the Caspian Basin and international "Between markets," the Prime Minister said.
