A healthy discussion can take place on any topic, - this is how Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze assessed the statement of United Neutral Georgia, which calls for debates on Georgia's European integration.
As Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, the discussion should be open, based on arguments, and the public should be provided with more information on all topics.
“There are a lot of people speculating on everything in the political spectrum. In general, as for the proposal for debates, we can take any topic from any subject and we can hold a discussion on any issue. The main thing is that elementary principles are respected. One of the principles is the recognition of the constitutional principle. A healthy discussion can take place on any topic. We are not saying that we definitely want to review our constitutional task, we are just saying that everything has pros and cons and a normal healthy discussion can take place on this, what are the pluses and minuses of, for example, European integration in particular. It is a normal issue. A healthy discussion can take place on all topics, the main thing is that this discussion be based on arguments, be open and provide the public with more information on all topics,” said Kobakhidze.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the stated goal is for Georgia to eventually become a member of the European Union.
"We have a stated goal, this goal is that we want Georgia to eventually become a member of the European Union. As for the discussion related to any topic, we are ready for this, we can discuss the pros and cons of any process, however, a constitutional task is a constitutional task," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
