Prime Minister - Everyone should respect the constitution, the constitutional order, and if someone does not do this, there should be mechanisms that ultimately ensure this

Georgia has a constitutional order, everyone must respect the constitution, the constitutional order, and if someone does not do this, there must be mechanisms that will ultimately ensure this, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists about the initiative, according to which criminal liability may be imposed on a person who does not recognize the legitimacy of constitutional bodies.

According to him, the law must be written correctly and the practice must be formed correctly, although there are various instances to determine the truth.

“I remember the recent precedent decision of the German Constitutional Court, according to which not a political party, but a party-like formation was banned. One of the reasons given was that it did not recognize the constitutional order established in Germany. Accordingly, this is an absolutely logical practice, international experience also speaks for itself. Of course, in our case, it is also very important that the appropriate principles are observed. There is a constitutional order in Georgia, everyone must respect the constitution, the constitutional order, and if someone does not do this, there must be mechanisms that ultimately ensure this.

The law must be written correctly and the practice must be formed correctly. I agree that there may be certain difficulties with drawing the line, however, the legal and governance system is designed to draw the line correctly in such cases, including these. If this line is not drawn correctly, there are various instances, including an international instance, where the issue of crossing the border correctly can be put on the agenda. The main thing is that we create mechanisms for respecting the constitutional order," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
