Shalva Papuashvili - "The friendship of the Georgian people" is not measured in words - friendship is strengthened by responsibility, respect for the sovereignty of the Georgian people and the constitutional order

“Sweden remains a friend of the Georgian people,” the Swedish Foreign Ministry said. This statement belongs to the Foreign Ministry of the same government, whose representative publicly called on Georgian radicals to organize a “Maidan,” Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili writes on social media.

As the Parliament Speaker notes, a few days after this call, violent individuals armed with “Molotov cocktails” and pyrotechnics attempted to burn down the Georgian Parliament building.

“Sweden remains a friend of the Georgian people,” the Swedish Foreign Ministry said. We would like to remind you that this statement belongs to the Foreign Ministry of the same government, whose representative publicly called on Georgian radicals to organize a “Maidan.” A few days after this call, violent individuals armed with “Molotov cocktails” and pyrotechnics attempted to burn down the Georgian Parliament building, attacked and seriously injured dozens of police officers, as a result of which one of the police officers lost his sight.

Against this background, instead of spreading yet another disinformation about Georgia, it would have been much more appropriate for the Swedish authorities to first clarify the “call to Maidan” and at least express their regret over this irresponsible and evil behavior of their own representative.

“The friendship of the Georgian people” is not measured in words. Friendship is strengthened by responsibility, respect for the sovereignty of the Georgian people and the constitutional order. Inciting violent scenarios and their subsequent justification is one thing, friendship is another. There is a big difference between them,” Papuashvili writes.
