We hear from ultra-liberals that the market regulates everything, but in reality it is not so. The market cannot regulate everything, and on the contrary, the free market has its flaws - its use can lead to cartel-like transactions or the emergence of monopolies, - the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, said while talking to journalists about price regulation.
According to him, the free market has flaws and the state has the function of correcting the flaws.
"We hear from ultra-liberals that the market regulates everything, but in reality it is not so. The market cannot regulate everything, and on the contrary, the free market has its shortcomings - the state has the function of correcting these shortcomings. We see that using the free market can lead to cartel-like transactions or the emergence of monopolies. This happens in the free market, and the state needs to identify and correct these shortcomings. This is our task - there will be intensive work, everything will be public, business representatives will be involved, and we will also listen to expert opinions. We will all, together with our population, make a decision - how to act," the Speaker of the Parliament said.
