The labor activity of foreigners in Georgia will be significantly restricted by law from March 1, which will allow us to properly protect the interests of both the country's economy and our citizens, - stated the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

As the Prime Minister notes, the government takes full responsibility for the effective implementation of this law.

"In 2017, it was our government that introduced an amendment to the Constitution of Georgia, which prohibited the sale of agricultural land to foreigners. Protecting and preserving the national and religious identity of Georgia is one of our most important national tasks, for which the Georgian government will do everything," - Irakli Kobakhidze stated.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister, the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has expelled more illegal migrants over the past 1 year than over the past 10 years combined.

“First of all, we are strengthening the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which has expelled more illegal migrants in the past 1 year than in the past 10 years combined. Strengthening the department will allow us to completely free the country of illegal migrants, whose number currently exceeds 20 thousand, in a few years. In addition, as is known to the public, the labor activity of foreigners in Georgia has been significantly restricted by law since March 1, which will allow us to properly protect the interests of both the country's economy and our citizens. The government takes full responsibility for the effective implementation of this law. In 2017, our government introduced an amendment to the Constitution of Georgia, which prohibited the sale of agricultural land to foreigners. Protecting and preserving Georgia's national and religious identity is one of our most important national tasks, for which the Georgian government will do everything,” the head of government said.

According to him, "Georgia will be completely freed from illegal migrants."
