Shalva Papuashvili - Yesterday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the EU Ambassador felt insulted by the fact that people ask why Danish money is being spent on Georgian politics - does the Dane even know where Georgia is on the map?

Yesterday, the EU Ambassador, who was at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, felt insulted. How can Georgians ask questions about what they spend their money on and how they feel when they learn that Danish money is being spent on politics, - the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, said on the decision of the British government to tighten legislation against foreign funding of politics.

As Shalva Papuashvili told journalists, “It is shamelessness that foreign countries spend money in Georgia, but if they are criticized or asked a question about it, they feel insulted.”

“I will remind you that a few months ago, the British Ambassador expressed surprise and concern over the fact that the British Embassy was not given the opportunity to finance the radical opposition party’s newspaper “Tabula”. Even a child knows that “Tabula” is a party newspaper. The British ambassador tried to finance a party newspaper of radicals. Today, we are hearing from Britain that if we were to carry out the same action in Britain, we would be severely punished and would not be given the opportunity to do so. This only shows one thing - they view us as second-class people and country. It turns out that they should spend money here and we should not even speak out. The whole shamelessness of all this is that they spend money, but if you point it out, if you ask a question, they feel insulted, just as the EU ambassador who was at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs felt insulted yesterday. How can the Georgian people ask a question, what are you spending your money on, and how are the Georgian people going to use it, when they find out that Danish money is being spent on politics, which has nothing to do with Georgian politics at all. In general, what does Denmark know? If the Danish population were asked to show on a map, would they able to show where Georgia is at all? This shows the hypocrisy that has always existed, has always been well-covered, and cannot be covered up today. Among them, it cannot be covered up because we have exposed it many times,” Shalva Papuashvili said.

According to him, “the right word is the main weapon of the government, which they are afraid of.”

"That's why they are trying to punish us, persecute us, to silence us. The only thing that all statements, resolutions, visa restrictions, etc. serve is to somehow silence us," Papuashvili said.
