The regime that faces a problem of legitimacy intends to equate the recognition of their legitimacy with the recognition of the constitutional order, at a time when “Georgian Dream” itself is the primary violator of the constitutional order, – this was stated by one of the leaders of “Lelo – Strong Georgia,” Giorgi Sioridze.
According to him, “Georgian Dream” plans to use the announced amendments to the Criminal Code for yet another round of political repressions.
“The package of amendments related to grants is the legacy of the ‘Russian law.’ This is exactly why we called that law Russian. If the Russian Federation needed 12 years to travel this path, under Ivanishvili’s regime, Georgia is covering the same distance in 2–3 years. At the same time, the regime that is confronted with a legitimacy problem now intends to equate the recognition of their own legitimacy with the recognition of the constitutional order. While ‘Georgian Dream’ itself is the very first violator of the constitutional order, it plans to use these amendments for another wave of political repressions. The legislation ‘on grants’ itself will practically affect virtually every citizen of Georgia who could potentially become a victim of financial or other sanctions,” – stated Sioridze.
For information: A new article is being added to the “Criminal Code” titled: “Extremism against the constitutional order.” The specified act will result in a fine, community service of up to 600 hours, or imprisonment for up to 3 years.
