Public Defender meets with rapporteur appointed by OSCE within the framework of Moscow Mechanism

Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani and First Deputy Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze met with Patrycja Grzebyk, a rapporteur appointed by the OSCE within the framework of the Moscow Mechanism, OSCE's human dimension tool.

According to the Public Defender's Office, Levan Ioseliani spoke about the supervision of the protection of the rights of persons detained during the protests in 2024, examination of their detention conditions and health status.

Amendments made to Georgian legislation regarding the right to assembly and demonstration and the constitutional complaints filed by the Public Defender were also among the topics discussed at the meeting. In addition, the guest was introduced to the amicus curiae opinions developed on the criminal cases relating to the protesters and the measures that the Public Defender of Georgia is implementing within the framework of his mandate.
