Citizens of 96 countries enjoy the possibility of staying in Georgia for up to 1 year without a residence permit, - this was stated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his speech in Parliament under the interpellation procedure.
According to the head of government, in most cases these are European countries.
“I want to tell you that the work of the Migration Department has been activated, and we will most likely have refined data on illegal migration in about 1 month, maximum in April. According to our preliminary data, the number of illegal migrants in Georgia is approximately 20,000. However, I will say once again that in about 2 months, maximum, we will have refined data. 107,000 + 20,000 - that totals 127,000, to which is added up to approximately 125,000 Ukrainian citizens who are in Georgia without a residence permit or permission. This leaves approximately 100,000 migrants beyond that. Where does this figure come from? Citizens of 96 countries enjoy the possibility of staying in Georgia for up to 1 year without a residence permit. In most cases, these are European countries. Almost all European countries, with one exception, enjoy this privilege in Georgia - not only EU countries, but all European countries. This privilege is also enjoyed by all Central Asian countries and all so-called Gulf countries,” - stated the Prime Minister.
