According to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, it is inadmissible to finance domestic politics with financial resources coming from outside.

According to him, NGOs are often used as a tool for interfering in the internal political processes of a foreign country.

According to the Prime Minister, the issue for which Georgia was criticized is also being actively discussed in European countries today.

“Very interesting processes have begun. NGOs are generally a tool for interfering in the internal affairs of a foreign country, which is why NGOs were created as a phenomenon. It is important to properly regulate all of this. No external funds should be coming into the country to finance politics. Once again, NGOs are a political tool for interfering in the internal political processes of another country. Therefore, we made a very important decision on the transparency of the financing of NGOs. What we were criticized for is now being actively discussed in European countries. Naturally, the existence of such a law is also important for the European Union - no one should interfere in someone else's political life," Kobakhidze said.

When asked why legislative amendments to the law on grants were necessary, what risks should be insured, and why it was necessary to tighten it, the Prime Minister replied that there are forces incited from outside the country that do not recognize the jurisdiction of the Georgian government not over 20%, but over 100% of the country's territory.

According to the Prime Minister, this is a national challenge that should be directly addressed by legislation.

"Certain European bureaucrats are directly announcing that they plan to find mechanisms to circumvent the existing law and indirectly finance political activities in Georgia. This is opposed by the draft law that the Georgian Parliament is adopting, therefore, this is an important initiative.

As for the non-recognition of the constitutional system, this is also related to national interests. You know that there are 5 states that do not recognize the jurisdiction of our government over 20% of the territory of Georgia. There are forces inside the country, incited from outside, that do not recognize the jurisdiction of the Georgian government not over 20% but 100% of the country's territory. This is a national challenge that must be addressed directly by legislation," Kobakhidze said.
