Gia Khukhashvili: Britain has been accused of Patarkatsishvili's murder - they say "it has no price," but British sanctions do have a serious price; I doubt they even know how to react - they will have to switch entirely to "black accounting"

In my opinion, British sanctions do have a serious price, because sanctions lead to specific consequences. Yes, they say "it has no price," but I doubt they even know how to react, — this is what analyst Gia Khukhashvili said while discussing the sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom on "Imedi" and "POSTV."

Khukhashvili noted on PalitraNews' program "Political Space" that the British decision will have serious consequences.

The analyst also stated that media companies may face difficulties with banking operations. According to him, this concerns both account servicing and payment of employee salaries.

"They haven't felt the pain yet, but business has already felt it well. Today or tomorrow, 'Bank of Georgia' and 'TBC' must close the accounts of 'Imedi' and 'POSTV.' As you know, many founders of money-transferring companies are registered in offshore zones, and most of them fall under British jurisdiction. One of the points of the sanctions directly states that any contractual relationship with sanctioned companies is punishable. I doubt that most companies that had communication with 'Imedi' will remain untouched in such a jurisdiction," — stated Khukhashvili.

According to Khukhashvili, under sanctions, companies may find it difficult to open bank accounts and distribute salaries to employees, including if employees are re-registered in other companies. In his assessment, financial institutions will have to take the sanctions requirements into account.

Khukhashvili also believes that "Rustavi 2" may be added to the list of sanctioned television companies.

Khukhashvili suggests that processes will develop according to the "domino principle" and that after the United Kingdom, European structures will also make decisions.

"This list will include 'Rustavi 2' and not only it. Britain is the first swallow; events will develop according to the domino principle. This will be followed by European sanctions. The British and Europeans are coordinated. Despite Trump being stubborn, American democracy will have no other way. In a short time, they will also join," — states Khukhashvili.

Khukhashvili also assessed the statement by the Chairman of the Parliament's Legal Issues Committee, Archil Gorduladze, regarding the British sanctions, where Gorduladze noted in his statement that "today, more than ever, it is clear that 'Imedi' was stormed and seized by the 'Nats' precisely on the orders of external forces — now they no longer have executors, so they struck themselves."

Khukhashvili noted that the events around "Imedi" in 2007 had significant political consequences, including the resignation of then-President Mikheil Saakashvili and the calling of snap elections, which, according to him, happened under Western pressure.

"First they accused Britain of Badri Patarkatsishvili's murder. He [Gorduladze] is a caricatured character. He has no idea at all what happened in 2007 at 'Imedi.' It was precisely the 'Imedi' case that led to Mikheil Saakashvili's resignation and the calling of elections, which happened under Western pressure. Now this caricatured character comes out and says that supposedly foreigners ordered Saakashvili to raid 'Imedi'," — states the analyst.
