Special Penitentiary Service: The representative of the Public Defender also viewed the continuous video footage recorded in Irakli Gharibashvili's cell and confirmed that the convicted person did not leave the facility

The representative of the Public Defender viewed the continuous video footage recorded as a result of video surveillance in the cell of convicted individual Irakli Gharibashvili, after which the representative of the Public Defender also confirmed that the convicted person did not leave the penitentiary institution, - this is stated in a declaration disseminated by the Special Penitentiary Service.

The agency calls false the information circulated in the media according to which the convicted ex-Prime Minister was taken out of the penitentiary institution for his child's birthday.

"Regarding the false information disseminated by TV company 'Formula,' alleging that convicted individual Irakli Gharibashvili temporarily left the penitentiary institution for a family member's birthday, we would like to provide the public with additional information.

Following the statement disseminated by the Special Penitentiary Service, the representative of the Public Defender of Georgia viewed the continuous video footage recorded as a result of video surveillance in the cell of convicted individual Irakli Gharibashvili, after which the representative of the Public Defender also confirmed that the convicted person did not leave the penitentiary institution.

This fact indisputably confirms that the information disseminated by TV company 'Formula' was yet another falsehood aimed at misleading society," - the statement reads.
