“If a government attacks its own people, silences journalists, and restricts freedom, there will be consequences,” - this is how Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, commented on the suspension of visa-free travel for holders of Georgian diplomatic, service, and official passports.
“The European Union has already withdrawn funding from Georgia due to democratic backsliding. Today, Europe is preventing individuals associated with the repressive Georgian authorities - including Georgian diplomats - from moving freely in the European Union,” - stated Kallas.
At the same time, she emphasized that the Georgian people have the full support of the European Union.
“The Georgian people have our full support, but those who represent repression have no place in our relations,” - noted Kallas.
