It is regrettable that the Georgian authorities have brought matters to this point, - this is how Germany's Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, responds to the European Commission's decision to suspend visa-free travel for holders of Georgian diplomatic passports.
“Sad that the Georgian government let it come to this. Violations have consequences. We want Georgians with normal passports to keep visa-free. You are friends, always welcome in EU. You could even be a member of EU.It is up to your government. Right now, you're moving away,” - Peter Fischer wrote on X.
For information: The European Commission's decision to suspend visa-free travel for holders of Georgian diplomatic passports entered into force today and will remain in effect for 12 months, until March 6, 2027.
