The Moscow Mechanism is creating an absolutely new reality, everyone will gradually feel it, - this is how the leader of the Droa party, Elene Khoshtaria, responds to the publication of the Moscow Mechanism report.
In a letter sent from prison, which was published on her personal page on the social network, Khoshtaria writes that now the main responsibility lies with the Opposition Alliance and it is necessary to use all the levers.
“A huge breakthrough has occurred. The stubbornness of the people, the work of the political spectrum and NGOs brought about this breakthrough. The Moscow Mechanism is creating an absolutely new reality, everyone will gradually feel it.
Georgian Dream is illegitimate and internationally accused. It is not about recognition or non-recognition, Georgian Dream has found itself outside politics, next to the criminals. And the place for such people is in the courts, including in The Hague.
The Georgian people have been given concrete and very many tools to hold the regime accountable.
The balance of power between us and the Russian Dream has changed. Give us the weapon of just force against the oppressor!
Now the main responsibility lies with the Opposition Alliance to optimally use all these levers to bring about change,” writes Elene Khoshtaria.
For information, the OSCE published a report on Georgia prepared within the framework of the Moscow Mechanism. The report discusses the events that have developed in Georgia since the spring of 2024 and provides recommendations. According to the document, the main findings are that during the mandate period, democratic backsliding was observed in Georgia. According to the report, violence against demonstrators, political opposition leaders, and journalists was combined with complete impunity for perpetrators. The government has gradually curtailed freedoms of expression and assembly by adopting new laws that target civil society, the political opposition, independent media, and the LGBT+ community. In addition, the report says that Georgia should repeal the Foreign Influence Transparency Act, the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), and the Grants Act, which regulates foreign grants. The report also provides recommendations to Georgia, OSCE participating States, and the international community.
