“‘Lelo’ is a party that violates the Constitution at every step,” reacted Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliament’s Legal Issues Committee, to the statement by Lelo regarding the initiation of dialogue.
According to Gorduladze, there is no question of dialogue with Lelo.
“This is a political party closely tied to the collective ‘National Movement,’ against which our team prepared a petition and submitted it to the Constitutional Court. Now, their patrons are trying to create some kind of alliance that would exclude the ‘Lelos’ and Gakharias, the ‘Nats,’ thinking they can save Lelo and the Gakharias and whitewash the huge crimes that unite them within the collective ‘National Movement.’ This effort is, of course, doomed to fail. When a party does not recognize the supreme decision of the Georgian people and the democratic foundations, what kind of dialogue can even be discussed here?” Gorduladze said.
When asked how he would respond to criticism from parts of the opposition, who argue that dialogue with the government would only happen after a transfer of power, Gorduladze replied, “That will not happen.”
“Both the collective ‘National Movement’ and their patrons say one simple thing: we cannot change ‘Georgian Dream’ through democratic processes or elections. Therefore, they think it is important for us to refuse service to the Georgian people ourselves and submit to the patrons of the collective ‘National Movement,’ handing over power. Yes, this is the most undemocratic thing that a government and the Georgian people could do, and of course, it will not succeed. Any other scenario or attitude is an attempt by the collective ‘National Movement’ to portray in society that there is a conflict between them and the ‘Lelo-Nats,’ or between them and the Gakharia-Nats, in order to somehow deceive the public and have at least a small chance of gaining power,” Gorduladze stated.
