Irakli Kobakhidze commented on the statement by Lelo for Georgia regarding the start of dialogue, saying the party is attempting to avoid a constitutional lawsuit.
According to Kobakhidze, Lelo may be trying to avoid the legal process related to a constitutional complaint, something he says was previously done by the party of Giorgi Gakharia when it entered parliament.
“As for Lelo, it is trying to avoid the constitutional lawsuit and the related process. Gakharia’s party managed to do this earlier when it entered parliament,” Kobakhidze said.
He added that opposition parties act under the influence of external forces.
“Lelo may be attempting the same thing, but I doubt they will be able to avoid the constitutional lawsuit. For us, these parties are exactly the same - the United National Movement, ‘Akhali,’ Lelo, Gakharia and others. In reality, they represent a single force, united by one thing: all of them are agents acting under the instructions of external forces in our country,” Kobakhidze stated.
He also commented on statements by Giga Bokeria and similar politicians, saying that such statements have been made for years.
“They like boasting and cannot give it up, despite the fact that such statements have never been successful. They can say whatever they want - Georgia is a democracy, and talking nonsense also falls within the space of democratic principles,” Kobakhidze said.
When asked about his response to Lelo’s proposal for dialogue, the Prime Minister said he would first wait for a decision from the Constitutional Court of Georgia regarding specific parties, including Lelo.
“First of all, I would wait for the Constitutional Court’s decision regarding certain parties, including Lelo, and after that we may make a decision about dialogue,” Kobakhidze said.
