Irakli Kobakhidze said that he does not expect any consequences from international mechanisms and believes that Georgia will continue its stable development
“I have no expectations. I have only one expectation - that our country will continue to develop steadily. No one will intimidate anyone with any mechanism: neither Moscow’s, nor Brussels’, nor Prague’s, nor Rostov’s. We are not interested in The Hague mechanism either,” Kobakhidze told journalists at a briefing when asked whether he expects any action from the court in The Hague.
According to the Prime Minister, a 100-page document written by a single expert in 14 days cannot claim to be a legal conclusion.
“Regarding the ‘Moscow Mechanism,’ The Hague and so on, this cannot be of interest to us because what is reflected in the report of the OSCE Moscow Mechanism is entirely based on falsehoods,” Kobakhidze said.
He also criticized one of the countries involved in initiating the mechanism, saying it was ironic to hear discussions about media freedom from actors who, in his view, had previously attempted to silence media in Georgia.
“No one will intimidate anyone with any mechanism - not Moscow’s, not Brussels’, not Prague’s and not Rostov’s. The Hague mechanism does not interest us either. The issue is so absurd that I can hardly comment on it at all. This is not a legal conclusion; it is entirely a political conclusion,” the Prime Minister said.
He added that when a single expert writes a 100-page document within 14 days, it cannot be considered a serious legal assessment and therefore has no value for Georgian society.
“I expect nothing except that our country will continue stable development,” Kobakhidze concluded.
