When I heard the statement by Lelo – Strong Georgia, I could not understand the context, the alignment of circumstances, the substance, or the purpose, – said the head of Geocase, Viktor Kipiani, commenting on the party’s call for the need to start a political dialogue between Georgian Dream and the opposition.
Speaking on the 360 Degrees program on PalitraNews, Viktor Kipiani said that the reaction of Georgian Dream to Lelo – Strong Georgia’s statement eliminated the possibility of holding a dialogue.
“This is one of those cases when I personally have to say to the leaders of Georgian Dream, who commented on this today: may God bless you. This has eliminated the need for me to comment extensively on Lelo – Strong Georgia’s statement. I must be very honest. Yesterday, when I heard this statement, I could not understand the context, the alignment of circumstances, the substance, or the purpose. But today there is simply no need to elaborate further, because Georgian Dream has eliminated the possibility of holding a dialogue,” Viktor Kipiani said.
According to Viktor Kipiani, in recent times the governing line of Georgian Dream has been characterized by two features: chaos and extremism.
“The [political] line of Georgian Dream can be characterized by two features: chaos and extremism. Their style leaves no other impression on me personally. Under their conditions, chaos combined with extremism is nothing more than the introduction of anxiety, constant instability, and unpredictability in the country, and the infliction of very serious reputational damage abroad.
What we saw today – the press conference – seemed to turn into some kind of internal championship within Georgian Dream. There are several leaders; sometimes one moves ahead, sometimes another. There are a few who surprise us the most, and this mutual surprise never ends,” Viktor Kipiani said.
For information, Lelo – Strong Georgia issued a statement saying that confrontation must be overcome and responsible political negotiations should begin between Georgian Dream and opposition parties. As the party’s Secretary General Irakli Kupradze said yesterday at a press conference with party members, a peaceful, democratic, and state-oriented way out of the political crisis is an agreement on holding new, free, and fair parliamentary elections. According to him, in parallel with this, in order to reduce political tensions in the country, it is also necessary to release political prisoners.
