It would have been the Patriarch's own wish for all presidents of Georgia to be there; that too would have been a sign of unity, beyond all these political confrontations, — this is stated by Georgia's fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, in a video address.
As Zourabishvili notes, this would particularly correspond to the wish of the Patriarch of Georgia and his main message — unity, peace, and mutual respect.
"We are all obliged to be together on Sunday; I don't know who will join us. Probably, it would have been the Patriarch's own wish for all presidents of Georgia to be there; that too would have been a sign of unity, beyond all these political confrontations, and this was his main characteristic, which we must take into account. No matter where we are, no matter who has permission and who doesn't, on Sunday we must all be one, because this will be the greatest sign that we respected him and understood why he came among us and what his main goal was.
Also, every step that may be taken on that day must be dedicated to unity, peace, and love for one another. This would be forgiveness for those people who are sitting in prison completely unjustly; the Patriarch knew this very well — he may not have said it anymore, but he knew it very well. For this day, his wish probably would have been that no one be left without the opportunity to pay respects to him, to come to Sameba. We are all his children, and for that we are grateful," — Zurabishvili stated.
