We demand the immediate release of Elene Khoshtaria, stated the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE Party), reacting to the court ruling in the case of damaging an election banner, under which the leader of “Droa,” Elene Khoshtaria, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

The party condemned the verdict.

“We condemn the 1.5-year sentence imposed on ‘Droa’ leader Elene Khoshtaria, which is completely disproportionate to the alleged offense, which relates to the exercise of freedom of expression and her commitment to a pro-European future for Georgia. We demand her immediate release and the dismissal of all politically motivated charges against her and other democratic opposition leaders and activists. We also call for additional targeted sanctions. Georgians, you are not alone!” ALDE wrote on the social media platform X.
