Giorgi Vashadze: Injustice is reaching every part of society: for some it means imprisonment, for others fines, dismissal from work, and for others being forced to leave the country - consolidation is the only way to resist this

A mother of four has been sent to prison for a year and a half. This injustice has not only affected Elene - it is spreading across all parts of society today, said Giorgi Vashadze, leader of “Strategy Aghmashenebeli” and representative of the opposition alliance, in response to the court’s verdict sentencing Elene Khoshtaria to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

According to him, the only way to fight this injustice is unity and standing together.

“A mother of four has been sent to prison for a year and a half. This injustice has not only reached Elene - it is now affecting all parts of society: some through imprisonment, some through fines, some through dismissal from work, and some through being forced to leave the country.

The only way to fight this injustice is consolidation and standing together. This is the path that will lead Georgia out of this difficult situation. A united Georgian nation cannot be opposed by a small group of people who are the source of this injustice. This struggle will definitely end with the victory of truth. My full solidarity and support to Elene!” he said.

For context, Elene Khoshtaria was found guilty in the case related to damaging Kaha Kaladze’s election banner. The decision was made by Tbilisi City Court judge Giorgi Arevadze, who sentenced her to 1 year and 6 months in prison.
