Elene Khoshtaria is not a political opponent, she is an ordinary "hooligan" - she probably wanted to be put in prison under the orders of her patrons, - Guram Macharashvili, a member of parliament from the People's Power, told journalists.
According to him, "Khoshtaria went to prison of her own free will.”
"Fortunately, the absolute majority of Georgian society already sees everything very well - who is a hero, who is an anti-hero, who wants good for Georgia and who wants evil. They, including Khoshtaria, wanted to pretend to be a political prisoner when they went to prison of their own free will. When you don't pay bail, i.e. you have a goal to go to prison. It's a different matter whether it's dictated from abroad or it’s your own free will. Perhaps it was more likely that she was dictated from abroad, they told her to go to prison and they would portray her as a political prisoner, which, of course, couldn't happen. Everyone knows who is who and that Khoshtaria is not in prison for politically different positions. She admitted herself that she had pyrotechnics, gasoline, bottles, everything she needed to set the police on fire and carry out an assault. They admitted it themselves, there is not even much need to find evidence. Whoever is serving a sentence today is serving it precisely based on legal actions," Macharashvili said.
For information, the court found Elene Khoshtaria, the politician and leader of Droa, accused of damaging Kakha Kaladze's election banner, guilty. The decision was made by Tbilisi City Court judge Giorgi Arevadze. Elene Khoshtaria was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison. Accordingly, Khoshtaria will leave the penitentiary in 1 year.
