“From today, electricity has been made 5 tetri more expensive by ‘Georgian Dream’! Along with the general cost burden, this will cause price increases for all products, including bread,” said Irakli Kupradze, one of the leaders of “Lelo – Strong Georgia,” commenting on the electricity tariff increase.
He wrote on his Facebook page that the government-created commission for studying prices is a farce, a lie, and an insult to the public.
“Such farce, lies, and humiliation as the ‘Georgian Dream’ price commission has not been seen for a very long time! Think about it and you’ll realize that first and foremost, this propaganda attacks the voters of ‘Georgian Dream’ themselves.
‘Georgian Dream’ = high prices ‘Georgian Dream’ = poverty ‘Georgian Dream’ = more hungry people ‘Georgian Dream’ = lies,” wrote Irakli Kupradze on social media.
For context, the consumer electricity tariff for the capital is increasing by 5 tetri. This decision was recently announced at a meeting of Georgia’s Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission. Specifically, previously, subscribers in Tbilisi consuming 0–101 kilowatt-hours per month paid 15.041 tetri per kilowatt-hour; starting April 1, the tariff will rise to 20.041 tetri. For consumers using 101–301 kilowatt-hours, the tariff will increase from 19.053 tetri to 24.053 tetri, and for those using more than 301 kilowatt-hours, the tariff will go from 23.537 tetri to 28.537 tetri.
